For about 14 minutes each of their matches the whole nation's heart was nervous and scared on the edge of their seats! 


For about 14 minutes the people forgot about COVID, the Budget, the Bill 17. 

For about 14 minutes Fiji put aside aaaaaalll the differences and stood WITH YOU.; cheered for you, cried for you, screamed for you, and ran out of their houses for you (broke the curfew for you 😬) , got firecrackers ready for you. Gave thanks for you. 

Imagine. 

You have the power to make this nation and its people purposefully put their differences aside and have ONE mind. All over the world. 

For about 14 minutes, nobody wanted the bad news of COVID and political debates. 

For about 14 minutes Everybody chose HOPE... that there could be light in the midst of the darkness; JOY in the midst of the pain, FAVOUR in the midst of uncertainty. 

You have the power to command the attention of a nation that a small medal could cause uproar of pride and love for a nation, while COVID & politics have been tearing them apart. 

Something small. Something small. Something small. 

Fiji ruggers - Catalysts of change. 

Small country. 
Small team. 
Small (limited) resources. 
Small beginnings. 
Small allowances. 
Small experiences.
Small backstories. 
Small talent. 
Small medal. 

But Significant impact! 

Mindsets challenged. 
Perspectives broadened. 
Dreams realized. 
Hope held on to. 
Love of country and its diversity overflowing with grace. 

God can use something small to shift/birth great(er) things.

Doing It Anyway

For some reason, I thought I needed to be out of the woods of this process to be able to tell the story. At least a proper one where my emotions are not in the way. The danger of doing it anyway is you feeling the rawness of the rage, the hurt, the heartbreak, the bitterness.  But I want to stay alive and telling the story helps me do that. Heartbreak

Imagine a girl growing up in a safe little good Christian home. Key words: safe, good and CHRISTIAN.  I start here because when the environment in your development stages in life is safe, good and Christian, your views and ideas about life is very limited. Limited to only good things. It's not bad and I'm not ungrateful but I say limited because I had no idea how to cope when bad things happened to me because it was a foreign concept and that it was even possible to happen to me in the first place. God was my protector I was taught and I should be immune to bad things?  I look back and see trauma happened one after the other for me in my 20s and now 30s that I guess is where my safety net comes in. My safety net being how I was raised as default - prayer, Bible and family with phrases like, "just pray about it!"   Great stuff but does not negate the fact that I was raised to believe that God is good all the time and for a kid that was raised in that environment, unco...
